I don’t know where the time has gone. It seems ages since any kind of update has been posted here. I’ll fault life itself I think, each day blurs into the next without even the separation of night and day to mark the days passed.
Today, or rather yesterday, Arwen is/was 3 months and 22 days old. It was time for her next scheduled appointment with the doctor.
There wasn’t much to report. As stated before we believe her to be cutting a first tooth, the doctor confirmed that this is very possible. Her neurological development seems to be on par with what THEY believe is the norm, and she is in generally good health.
As of some time after 11am she weighed 14 pounds and 14 ounces, measuring 26 inches long. Statistically speaking this means she is quite tall, of moderate weight and has an average sized head (55th percentile or something like that).
The most troubling part of the visit was another round of vaccinations. I am still so conflicted about this issue. You can’t get a straight answer to save your life. This study says that while this study, in the course of calling the doctors on the former study idiots, can’t say whether or not they actually have any answers. Science isn’t philosophy, you can’t decide on something and THEN try to work a way that it could be construed as true. All I know is the profound effect these injections have on Arwen and, by way of empathy, us. There is of course the pain, then there are the after effects. She spent the night, disengaged… drowsy, with sudden spells of fussiness, bordering or breaching on hysterics.
Is it for the greater good? Ultimately I believe so. Is it necessary to have so many innoculations at once? I see the logic in it. Is an infant’s already weak immune system strong enough for such a battery? At this point I would say no.
