I know its been a while since either of us updated this blog, but the reality is that there is very little to report. Both of us came down with some vicious flu but we’re both over it and have recovered more or less completely. The days are getting longer and that is certainly good news.
We still have some bigger purchases to make and then I think we’ll be set on baby furniture. We want to get a sliding rocker and a baby swing. I think those are the last two big ticket items on our list. All thats left is all the little things, the things we’re not thinking of quite yet which I’m sure will end up being bought on the fly. As good as we like to think we are at planning ahead, its sort of like vacation… you always forget something. Oh! Like a baby monitor. We really want a video monitor, so I guess that should be added to the big ticket items list. I’ve been toying with the idea of using an X11 camera, that way I could stream the feed on the net and view it on any of the TVs in the house. I haven’t researched prices yet, but I’m sure it would end up costing more than a dedicated monitor.
spyMommy swears that she’s starting to feel little flutters now and then which I think it so cool. I can’t wait until I can feel it myself.
In some sort-of unrelated news Neil Gaiman, author of the Sandman series (among other things), just won a Newberry award for The Graveyard Book. I’m stoked to check this book out. I was completely oblivious to the fact he wrote children’s books. He likened the story to The Jungle Book, but of course it takes place in a graveyard. Being a Newberry winner I’m hoping it shares some of the qualities of those by Lloyd Alexander, author of the Prydian Chronicles (The Black Cauldron and the like). They’re very easy reads with concepts and characters everyone can enjoy… not to mention impossible to put down. I completely look forward to reading with our little one all the books I’ve enjoyed over the years, as well as some new ones.
Until next time folks,
