The Start of a Long Day

Today Arwen had to go in for a minor procedure to unplug her tear ducts. It’s a simple procedure and we couldn’t ask for a better doctor. The doctor by the name of Robert Rhee is gracious and humble and is the first doctor I’ve met that won’t shut up when you ask him questions. 🙂

We went in at 6am and went through the redundant procedures of checking in. After verifying, re-verifying and double verifying the same information we waited.

The worst part about the wait was that Arwen was not able to eat when she got up so she was very cranky. Finally spyMommy lulled her back to sleep as Dr. Rhee arrived. Luckily for us he thought the surgery was at 7am and not 7:30am.

So they took Arwen back to the operating area which was a bit harder for me than I might have anticipated and I don’t think we were in the waiting room more than 15 minutes when we were called in to consult with the doctor. “The procedure went perfect and we can go see her”, was the gist of the consult, and so we did.

She was very cranky and disoriented with wires and tubes here and there. At first I thought that she was gonna be sick and miserable from the procedure. Through the calming talents of spyMommy she soon calmed down enough to drink her bottle. After than she was more or less herself.

With the help of my cell phone, YouTube and Baby Einstein the nurse was able to remove all the wires and IV needle with almost no fuss and we took her home shortly after that.

Once home she ate a little more and was pretty much back to her normal self. At first she just wanted to chill, but then she decided chillin’ wasn’t her game so she decided it was time to roam the house.

Besides taking an extra nap today there have been no ill effects that we have seen. We will be seeing the doctor first thing in the morning for a follow up and hopefully we’ll never have to go through anything like this every again.l
