This afternoon brought some warmer, if not wetter, conditions so Arwen and I headed out to breathe some non-house air at the prompting of spyMommy. Despite the rain and the 50 degree weather there were still patches of ice here and there that Arwen almost instinctually avoided. I wanted to test out the little tether backpack we bought so we left the confines of the backyard to wander the sidewalks of the big noisy world. We walked from one end of the street to the other and along the way Arwen discovered her first rain puddle. Immediately she got in the middle of it, knelt down to see that it was in fact water, then started to stomp and splash as if it were the only logical thing to do with a puddle. It was something of a fight to pull her away. It would seem that her boots are no more waterproof than her socks and that had to make for an interesting walk home for her since she did not protest at all to being picked up and brought into the house.
It will be nice when the weather finally breaks and our nearly daily walks can resume. It was good for everyone.
