I am amazed at what a difference just one month makes. Then, Arwen was struggling to mimic and learn new words, even body language was a bit difficult.
This past week has left me in a bit of awe. I’ve seen Arwen mimic the hand gestures of an orchestra conductor, pat her stuffed animal’s backs (trying to burp them, like we do with Rowan) and just this morning for the first time I saw her mimicking silly faces on the TV.
And words… well I’ve just got to say we’re in trouble. She is coming up with stuff I hadn’t realized she had learned. I can only suppose that she in learning some of this stuff by inference. No small feat, that. At the moment I can’t bring up any specific examples. Needless to say, I’ve been shocked more than once.
There is also a lot of mimicry with words as well. (it’s to be expected) It usually only takes a few tries for her to get something that sounds pretty close to what she’s trying to say. A couple of her videos deal in phonetics and she does really well with those words, so we’re going to have to try that with a little bit of everything.
If this pace comes up, by the time she’s 10, I’ll be able to by the shirt, “I have a vocabulary of 75,000 words and I’m not afraid to use it.”, for her birthday.
It’s going to be an amusing day when she can out banter me.
